Obituary For William Richard Day
William Richard “W.R.” Day, age 86, of Walton, passed away Monday, December 16, 2024, at his residence. He was a retired Clerk for CSX Railroad (formerly L & N), a long-time member of Southfork Christian Church in Verona, KY, and a U.S. Air Force Veteran. He had fond memories of his time in the military, where he formed strong friendships. Richard and a group of his “Air Force Buddies”, from the 3033rd Bomb Squadron at Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, AZ and Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH, regularly got together every two to three years to catch up with one another. Richard also enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing with his pets, and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Clifton and Lucille Varner Day; his beloved wife, Louise Day, son, Rick Day, and brother, Robert Lewis Day. Richard is survived by his son, Glen Day (Tami); grandchildren, Brandon William Day, Hunter Glen Day, Nathan Thomas Day, Anna Louise Day, Benjamin Michael Walls, Tara Walker (Craig), Brandon Baker, and Nikki Baker; and great grandchild, Cadence Baker. The visitation for Richard will be Friday, December 20th, from 6 pm to 8 pm at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 45 North Main Street, Walton KY 41094. His funeral service will be Saturday, December 21st, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. A committal service with military honors will be held for Richard, immediately following the funeral service, at Hughes Chapel Cemetery in Union, KY.
