Obituary For Wilma Jean Porter

Wilma Porter, 89, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Carespring Transitional Care in Coldspring, KY. She was born on July 18, 1937, in Russell, Kentucky to the late Frank and Hazel (Holmes) McKenzie.

Wilma was a graduate of Russell High School class of 1955. She met the love of her life, Carl Porter, and they exchanged vows on July 22, 1955. They started a family together and had a wonderful son, Jeff, who was the light of their life. They enjoyed traveling, attending gospel singing events, and were members of The First Pentecostal Church of Flatwoods, KY where they volunteered a lot of their time. Wilma enjoyed working Vacation Bible School, planning meals for the church family during funerals and enjoyed singing in the church on Sunday mornings during worship. Her love for Jesus Christ and her faith was unwavering. She loved her family beyond measure.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Frank and Hazel McKenzie, her loving husband of 51 years, Carl Porter, five sisters, and three brothers.

Those left here to carry on her loving legacy are her son, Jeff (Kathy) Porter; granddaughter, Samantha (Blake) Clary; her twin great granddaughters, Caroline and Savannah Clary, and one more due in October, Georgia Clary; one sister, Phyllis (Gene) Roberts, several nieces, nephews, and a host of extended family and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens 700 Red Devil Lane, Russell, KY 41169.
