Eddie Eviston found great success at Georgetown College; the three-time NAIA Player of the Year quarterback from northern Kentucky helped the Tigers to 41-1 mark with back-to-back national titles.

Georgetown head coach Bill Cronin announced Monday that Eviston would be moving on to return to head coaching in his home area at Covington Catholic High School.

“Eddie has been and always will be a Tiger,” Cronin said. “He was an easy hire back in 2013, and I can’t blame any school trying to entice him away from us. This was an opportunity to return closer to home and back to head coaching ranks. We wish him good luck and look forward to recruiting a number of his players in the future.”

In 2013, Eviston returned to the Georgetown sidelines as offensive coordinator, helping the Tigers to a 15-7 record with a pair of NAIA postseason appearances.

Eviston came to Georgetown, leaving behind a head coaching job at Newport Central Catholic, where he guided the Thoroughbreds to state titles.

Since graduating from Georgetown, he has tried out for an NFL team, played in the UIF as well as coaching NCC and the Orange & Black.

“It was hard to make this decision,” Eviston said. “As a player I loved my time here and now walking the sidelines with each of my fellow coaches has been an honor. When Covington Catholic came knocking it was just something I couldn’t turn down. This benefits myself as well as my wife and daughters. We will always be part of the Tiger family and carry Tiger Pride in all things we do.

“I’m excited to get back to coaching high school and being a head coach. I think I’ve improved and learned as a coach over the past two seasons here at Georgetown and am ready to implement some of that at Cov Cath.”
