NKU enters Saturday’s contest with a 14-12 overall record and a 5-6 mark in the Atlantic Sun. Christine Roush finished with 20 points, three points, three assists, two blocks and one steal as the Norse fell to Jacksonville, 76-62, on Thursday at The Bank of Kentucky Center. Melody Doss added 17 points, two rebounds and one block, while Kaitlyn Gerrety scored eight points on 4-for-6 shooting from the floor and pulled down a team-high five boards for NKU.
The Norse took a 34-32 advantage into the locker room at the half, and the two teams traded one-point leads until Jacksonville built a 53-50 lead with 6:41 left to play. The Dolphins went on a hot streak from there, hitting three of four attempts, including 3-pointers from Brown and Reddick, to make it a 63-56 lead with 2:46 to go. From that point, Jacksonville continued to hit free throws down the stretch, scoring their final 11 points from the charity stripe to reach the final score.
NKU holds a 3-2 advantage in the all-time series against North Florida after the Ospreys handed the Norse an 81-79 loss in double-overtime on Jan. 24 in Jacksonville, Florida. North Florida claimed a 59-55 victory in the first ever meeting between the two teams on Jan. 2, 2013. NKU evened the series with a 57-44 home victory later in that season. The Norse swept the series meetings a year ago, taking a 57-51 win on the road and a 78-65 victory at The Bank of Kentucky Center.
NKU’s game against North Florida will be played in Regents Hall due to an event conflict at The Bank of Kentucky Center for Throw Back Night and Girl Scout Night. Women’s basketball alumni will be recognized at halftime, and Girl Scouts will receive free admission to the game when wearing their uniforms.
IMPORTANT PARKING INFORMATION: Traffic flows will be disrupted Saturday because of the large event held at The Bank of Kentucky Center. Fans are encouraged to enter Lot T, which is the tiered lot across from Regents Hall off University Drive, from Martha Layne Collins Boulevard, and parking will be free of charge.
