COV200 Greenline Bus tours give people whole new look at Covington’s quirky side

Covington is alive and COV200 is showing it off with COV200’s upcoming Greenline passport tours. Slated for March 28 and again April 19, the community is invited to join COV200 on vintage TANK Greenline buses for special tours of unique, off-the-beaten-path Covington sights.

TANK’s Greenline buses were used for more than twenty years, running from 1950-1972.

“Covington has so much to offer residents and visitors alike,” says Amanda Greenwell, COV200 Vice Chair. “Part of our mission is to showcase this community’s brilliance – we hope to do that by giving people a unique tour that highlights Covington’s quirky side.”

Included on the tours are stops at the Covington Madlot, the site of the former Covington Blue Sox field, and Covington’s underground aqua garage, and many more. A full listing of tour stops can be found in the COV200 bicentennial edition of the Awesome Collective’s Index of Awesome Zine/COV200 Passport.

The zine highlights some of the weird, wacky, and unique places and unknown stories about the city. Free passports will be available on tour days, and can be found in advance at a variety of Covington business locations. A full listing of businesses with the COV200 passport is available online here.

COV200 Greenline Bus Tours will take place Saturday, March 28 at 8:30 a.m., 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., as well as on Sunday, April 19 at 1 p.m., 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. Tours will leave from the Madlot, located at the southeast corner of 7th and Washington St. While there is no cost to participate in the COV200 Greenline Bus Tours, individuals are encouraged to pre-register to ensure a seat on their preferred tour date/time. Tickets are available here.

After the 5 p.m. tour on April 19, there will be a small party in Orchard Park that will include a special dance performance by members of Pones, Inc.
