Thomas More lands three representatives on D3hoops.com All-Great Lakes Region team


Thomas More College junior guard/forward Sydney Moss (St. Albans, W.Va./Boone County (Ky.) and freshman guard Abby Owings (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) have been honored by the internet website D3hoops.com with regional honors.

Moss was named the Great Lakes Region Player of the Year and first team All-Great Lakes. Moss leads the team and the nation in scoring as she averaged 24.4 points per game. She also leads the team in rebounding with 7.2 rebounds per game and is second in assists with 119 and fourth in steals with 57.

Owings was named the Great Lakes Region Rookie of the Year and third team All-Great Lakes. She leads the team in steals with 67, while she is third in scoring with 10.9 points per game and also dishes out 78 assists.

Moss, Owings and the top-ranked Saints will play Tufts University on Friday in a national semifinal game of the NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Championship Tournament. The game will tip-off at 5 p.m. inside Van Noord Arena on the campus of Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

For the men’s team, Thomas More’s Drew Mumford (Louisville, Ky./Christian Academy) has been named All-Great Lakes Region byD3hoops.com.

Mumford, who was named first team All-Presidents’ Athletic Conference earlier this month, was a second team All-Region selection. He led the team in scoring and rebounding with 18.9 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. Mumford shot 55 percent from the field and dished out 78 assists, while recording 10 blocked shots and 39 steals.

Thomas More ended the season at 17-10 overall and 11-5 in the PAC as it advanced to the semifinals of the PAC Championship Tournament.
