The Carnegie and the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra are bringing the 60’s back with “Two Cities, Two Bands”: The sounds and stories of Blood Sweat & Tears and Chicago, playing three performances – May 7, 8, and 9, 2015 at 8 p.m.
Part of The Carnegie’s Carnegie in Concert Series, the KSO’s Boogie Band and some of the region’s best vocalists are joining to honor two of the longest running horn bands, both still on tour after 46 years. Hits from both bands will be performed, including “Spinning Wheel,” “And When I Die,” “25 or 6 to 4,” and “You’re the Inspiration.”
Blood Sweat & Tears and Chicago were both formed in 1968 by jazz and rock musicians, one in New York, the other in Chicago. The two bands defined the jazz-rock genre and, between them, have 10 multi-platinum albums, 18 platinum albums, and 25 gold albums. Though their instrumentation is similar, their paths, sounds, and stories are quite different.
