“I am very pleased that Dr. Decker will be taking on this senior leadership role as the chief advancement officer at Gateway,” said Gateway President/CEO G. Edward Hughes. “She has been a successful leader of a nonprofit, a champion of innovation and one of the most prolific grant writers I’ve ever encountered. She knows the community, our students and all aspects of the college. She is well-equipped to tell the Gateway story, leading the capital campaign and developing strategic partnerships with our community.”

As director of grants and contracts, Decker secured over 25 million in grant funding, including the largest federal grant in Gateway’s history, served as the campaign manager for Gateway’s capital campaign and led the grants department. Prior to that, she was the director of adult education at Gateway.

“Gateway is a top-notch institution that provides high-quality education and training for the greatest value in the region,” said Decker. “I look forward to broadening my contribution to the college’s mission through this pivotal position.”

Decker holds doctorates from the University of Kentucky and the University of Louisville, and a bachelor of arts from Northern Kentucky University. She has earned many professional and community honors in the 15 years she has served at Gateway.

Decker is filling the role held by Laura Cook Kroeger, who is retiring.
