See a textile exhibition ‘Transfigured’ at Eva G. Farris Gallery at Thomas More College through Aug. 21


Thomas More College presents “Transfigured,” a textiles exhibition by Elizabeth Mesa-Gaido and Jennifer A. Reis. The exhibit appears in the Eva G. Farris Art Gallery at Thomas More College beginning tonight and runs through Aug. 21. The opening reception is from 4-7 p.m. today.

Elizabeth Mesa-Gaido is an actively exhibiting artist with over two decades of experience including one person, international and regional juried, and invitational shows. Her artwork have been presented at such venues as the Urban Institute of Contemporary Art, Visual Arts Center of New Jersey, Spaces, Indianapolis Art Center, Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, Three Rivers Arts Festival, Cuban Museum of Arts and Culture, Mexic-Arte Museum, Alexandria Museum of Art, Speed Art Museum, Evansville Museum of Art, Avampato Discovery Museum, Cleveland State University, University of Kentucky, and Florida State University Museum of Fine Arts. Mesa-Gaido is a faculty member at Morehead State University in Eastern Kentucky.

Jennifer A. Reis is also an exhibiting and teaching artist, as well as gallery director and faculty at Morehead State University. She exhibits award-winning, hand-worked, embellished textile and mixed-media artworks in nationally and internationally juried exhibitions. Reis holds a B.F.A. in studio art from the Columbus College of Art and Design, and an M.A. in museum studies from Syracuse University. She is a traditionally trained artist who is self-taught in textiles. Founded in her belief in the power of the arts to positively affect individual lives, her aim is to create transformative art experiences.

Eva G. Farris Gallery hours are 8:30 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday-Thursday; 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Friday; closed Saturday and Sunday. For more information, click here.
