Children’s Home of NKy resurrects Riverfest Fireworks fundraiser for new treatment lines

Looking for a new way to experience the annual Riverfest Fireworks that doesn’t involve sitting for hours in the hot sun, dealing with rambunctious crowds, or using a portable restroom? Children’s Home of Northern Kentucky has the perfect opportunity for you to enjoy a laid back evening of food, drink, music, and of course, fireworks.

CHNK, in partnership with Covington’s Metropolitan Club, will host the CHNK Fireworks Spectacular on Sunday, September 6. Tickets for the event are $200 per person, with $100 of each ticket sale directly benefiting CHNK’s treatment lines – including its newest service, substance use disorder treatment for adolescents struggling with addiction.

Festivities kick off at 5 p.m. (before the roads in Covington close) and conclude by 11 p.m. Guests at the event will be treated to:

• Six food stations, boasting options such as shrimp cocktail, roast beef tenderloin, build-your-own fajitas and burritos, kabobs, and a loaded mashed potato bar
• A dessert bar that opens post-fireworks
• Unlimited beverages, including wine and beer, for the duration of the event
• Two hours of full open bar, courtesy of Lally Pipe & Tube
• Live music
• Door prizes, including a $500 gift card for Best Furniture Gallery
• Complimentary parking in the Embassy Suites garage

“We used to hold a viewing party on our own front lawn in Devou Park, selling tickets to the wider community as a fundraiser,” shares Rick Wurth, CHNK Chief Executive Officer. “But several years ago, we decided to make it a private party so that our youth in residential treatment could watch the fireworks themselves from some of the best seats in the tri-state. This year, we think we have a win-win situation – our kids can still enjoy the fireworks from campus, but the community can still support CHNK while taking in a great fireworks show from a great venue.”

Typically a members-only setting, the Metropolitan Club is located on the 19th floor of Covington’s RiverCenter Towers; its floor-to-ceiling windows overlook the Ohio River and the numerous bridges connecting Northern Kentucky to Cincinnati, giving event supporters a bird’s eye view of the fireworks. Guests are even permitted to leave the party and return, should they want to stroll along Covington’s Riverside Drive or across the Suspension Bridge.

“CHNK is so vital to our community, making a real difference in the lives of so many children,” said John Mocker, vice president of event sponsor Lally Pipe and Tube. “We’re proud to continue our support of the organization, especially with an event that will bring so many folks in the community together for an evening of fun.”

Only 300 tickets will be sold, including 40 VIP tickets at $250 each that entitle their holders to front row seats along the Metropolitan Club’s windows. Over half of the VIP tickets have already been sold. Event tickets can be purchased online at www.chnk.org/2015fireworks or by calling the CHNK Office for Development at 859.292.4135.
