Arnett Elementary has been recognized as one of the top 10 schools in Kentucky in a survey that measures teaching conditions, student achievement, and school safety.

Arnett received the Winners’ Circle honors, with nine other schools, at the 3rd Annual Kentucky Continuous Improvement Conference September 21-22 in Lexington.

Arnett is one of four elementary schools in the Erlanger-Elsmere Independent School District.

Kentucky Associate Commissioner of Education Amanda Ellis made the announcement after a five-phase review process that resulted in the selection of 66 exemplary schools across the state. From the 66 “Honorable Mentions,” one school in each of Kentucky’s State Board/Judicial Districts, and three at-large schools were chosen to be awarded the Winners’ Circle honors.

The measurement is the Teaching, Empowering, Leading and Learning (TELL) Survey, a nationally recognized survey used to measure teacher engagement and support, instructional practices, leadership, community engagement, student conduct, facilities, and other factors.

As one of the 10 outstanding schools with excellent TELL Survey results and student achievement, Arnett Elementary will be recognized for their remarkable teaching and learning conditions during the conference and will also be used as an example of best practices across the state.

“The Erlanger Elsmere School District is extremely proud of the tremendous accomplishments of the students, staff, and school leaders at Arnett Elementary,” said Dr. Kathlyn Burkhardt, superintendent. “We share our pride with our wonderful, supportive parents, community and Board of Education. Arnett’s commitment to our students and families is apparent in everything they do and we are excited to see the school recognized as one of the top schools in the state of Kentucky!”

This is the third time Arnett Elementary has been recognized by the TELL Survey; the school achieved Honorable Mention status in 2012 and 2013. Matt Engel served as principal of Arnett until June 2015, when he was named the district’s Supervisor of Instruction; Amanda New became principal with the new school year.

Arnett Elementary serves approximately 330 children in preschool through fifth grade; the school is located at 3552 Kimberly Drive, Elsmere.
