NKy’s own 9-11 Memorial to be dedicated on that anniversary at Crescent Springs Community Park

The Northern Kentucky 9/11 Memorial will be dedicated on Friday, September 11, at 6 p.m. at the Crescent Springs Community Park at 805 Buttermilk Pike in Crescent Springs.

The public is invited.

1911Construction of the Northern Kentucky 9/11 Memorial is complete after 3 ½ years of fundraising and includes renderings of the Twin Towers that once graced the New York skyline. In the shape of a pentagon at the base, the memorial will pay tribute to five groups deeply affected on that historic day: firefighters, police, the airline industry, civilians and the Pentagon.

At the center of the memorial will be an authentic I-beam from the Twin Towers that was secured from Ground Zero and placed at the memorial by Iron Workers Local 44.

U.S. Congressman Thomas Massie, Senator Chris McDaniel and Representative Diane St. Onge will be featured speakers with WKRC’s news anchor John Lomax serving as MC.

Several other local dignitaries will be in attendance. This very patriotic program will host Hamilton, Boone and Kenton County Sheriff Departments as well as Covington Police Department, represented with color guards, rifle teams, mounted patrols and more.

The program will conclude with the dedication of the Northern Kentucky 9/11 Memorial. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Additional parking and shuttles from Clock Tower Way will be provided. Handicap parking will be available at the park.

Take this opportunity to come out and join us in the dedication of this historic and moving memorial.

Funding for the memorial was primarily through private contributions. For more information on the Northern Kentucky 9/11 Memorial, visit www.nky911memorial.org.
