The popular Red Bike program, launched a mere 13 months ago as Mayor John Cranley cut the ribbon at Freedom Center Station, reached a big milestone this week.
It counted its 100,000th Red Bike Ride when Keith Piercy of NKy checked a bike out at the Port Bellevue Station in Bellevue and rode about 30 minutes to the Freedom Center Station in Cincinnati.
Since the launch, Greater Cincinnatians and guests have been pedaling like crazy with over 17,000 people having used Red Bike.
Recently, Cincinnati area was named the 3rd fastest growing bicycle commuting city in the country, according to the League of American Bicyclists.
Red Bike has 50 stations located throughout Downtown Cincinnati, Over-the-Rhine, the West End, the Uptown neighborhoods, Northside, Covington, Newport, and Bellevue.
Red Bike was initially funded by Mayor John Cranley and Cincinnati City Council, along with many generous foundations and local businesses. Red Bike is powered by UC Health as presenting sponsor.
