Thomas More College senior forward Austin Juniet (Fort Thomas, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) and junior midfielder Laura Felix (Burlington, Ky./St. Henry) have been named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-American Team.
Both were second-team selections.
Juniet becomes a two-time All-American as he was also a second team selection in 2013. Last month, he was named the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Offensive Player of the Year and earlier this week was named NSCAA first team All-Great Lakes Region.
Juniet led the PAC in points (55), assists (23), and game-winning scores (6), and was third in total goals scored (16). As of games played through November 8, he led all NCAA Division III counterparts in assists, and assists per game (1.15), and was third in points per game (2.75).
This is the fourth season in the last five years that the Saints have had an All-American as Alex Oeswein ’12 earned the honor in 2011, Juniet in 2013 and Alex Dean ’15 was named to the team in 2014.
The Saints finished the season with a 16-3-1 record and won their fifth-straight Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) regular season title and advancing to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament for the seventh-straight season. Thomas More ended the regular season ranked No. 9 in the country.
Felix was named first team All-Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) last month and first team NSCAA All-Great Lakes Region earlier this month.
Felix was third on the team in scoring with 13 points on five goals, including one game-winner and three assists. She has a .636 shot-on-goal percentage and also helped the Saints defensively hold opponents to four total goals and post 18 shutouts.
This is the fourth-straight season the Saints have had at least one All-American as Abby Gindling ’13 was second team in 2012, senior Olivia Huber was a third team selection 2013 and second team selection in 2014 and senior Abby Osborne was a first team selection in 2014.
The Saints finished the season with a 19-1-2 record and won their fourth-straight Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) regular season title and fifth-straight PAC Championship Tournament title, while advancing to the NCAA Division III Championships’ sectional semifinals for the third-straight season.
Thomas More ended the regular season ranked No. 8 in the country.
