To commemorate the 10th anniversary of The Art of Food, The Carnegie will hold two nights of events where chefs and artists will come together to push culinary arts to new heights. Themed Farm to Gallery, the two nights — February 24 and February 26 — of The Art of Food will put a creative twist on the popular farm-to-table movement while celebrating food, where it comes from, and those inspired by it.
The Carnegie is kicking things off Wednesday, February 24 with a more intimate version of the Art of Food experience, limited to 200 guests. Running from 6-9 p.m., attendees will enjoy a selection of dishes from seven local chefs, and will have the opportunity for more interaction with the artists and chefs. The $100 ticket also includes live music from Jake Speed and the Freddies, complimentary valet, and open bar.
Special to the Wednesday evening event, dishes will come with beverage pairing recommendations.
On Friday, February 26, The Carnegie will open its doors for its signature Art of Food event. From 6-9 p.m., the evening will feature dinner-by-the bite from 20 local chefs, all situated amongst food-inspired art created for the event by local artists.
Guests will enjoy music and even a little dancing with DJ Dirty C. Tickets are $25 for Carnegie Members, $40 for non-members. A cash bar and valet service will also be available.
“It’s hard to believe its been 10 years since we held the first Art of Food at The Carnegie,” said Katie Brass, Executive Director of The Carnegie. “Each year The Art of Food has evolved, and each year we’ve been able to work with even more amazing local artists and chefs to make it bigger and better. ”
Bringing the Art of Food’s Farm to Gallery theme to life, artist Pam Kravetz is once again collaborating with an impressive lineup of artists to construct an interactive environment to showcase the creations from the chefs. At the center of the Ohio National Financial Services Main Gallery will be a raised barn loft where musicians and performers will take the farm-to-table concept on a contemporary spin. Spread throughout The Carnegie galleries attendees will find a “butcher shop,” an American Gothic panorama created from edible materials, and plenty of paintings and sculptures celebrating food and farm. Attendees will also have the chance to take a look back at the evolution of the Art of Food.
Fun path from farm to chef
“The artwork this year is loosely set up to trace the path from the farm to the chefs but in an intentionally humorous and fun way,” said Matt Distel, The Carnegie’s Exhibition Director. “From Ken Page’s sly paintings of cows confronting conceptual art on the farm to Tony Dotson’s folk art twist on a butcher shop to Antonio Adams’ portraits of the Art of Food chefs, each gallery tackles a different step along the way to your plate.”
Tickets for the two Art of Food events are available through The Carnegie Box Office, open Tuesday through Friday, noon – 5pm, by phone at (859) 957-1940 or online at www.thecarnegie.com.
