Local police officers graduate from training

Five local law enforcement officers were among 26 in Basic Training Class 469 to complete 22 weeks of training at the Department of Crimincal Justice Training program at EKU recently.

Major training areas included homeland security, law offenses and procedures, vehicle operations, firearms, investigations, first aid/CPR, patrol procedures, orientation for new law enforcement families and mechanics of arrest, restraint and control.

The officers are:
Kelli Chapman, Florence Police Department
Jared R. Habermehl, Covington Police Department
Brent Roger Mullaney, Covington Police Department
Brandon J. Post, Boone County Sheriff’s Office
Christopher R. White, Newport Police Department

New development officers at NKU

Two experienced development officers, Tara Widener and Jerome ‘Jey’ Marks, have joined Northern Kentucky University’s Haile/US Bank College of Business and College of Health Professions.

Tara Widener

Widener is Director of Development for the College of Health Professions, where she will help guide and implement the college’s strategic vision during a period of tremendous growth and change for the college, including the development of a new Health Innovation Center set to open in 2018.

She previously worked as Development Director for the Children’s Miracle Network. She has also worked for the Bethesda Foundation and Hospice of Cincinnati. She received a B.A. in Elementary Education from NKU in 1993.

Jey Marks

Marks is Director of Development for the Haile/US Bank College of Business, where he will help guide and implement the college’s strategic vision as it works to strengthen its ties to the community and grow its international offerings.

He was previously Senior Director of Regional Advancement and Interim Director of Alumni Relations at Marymount University in Arlington, Va. He also worked at Eastern Kentucky University, where he received a B.B.A. in Business Administration in 2000.
