Kentucky will make history soon by holding the Commonwealth’s first ever Republican Presidential Caucus.
It’s coming up next week — March 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
To be sure your vote is counted in this year’s Kentucky Caucus find out where to vote on March 5.
In previous years, Republican voters in Kentucky selected their candidate for President by voting in a May primary. (There’s still going to be a May 17th primary for other important offices.) This meant many other states had already made their choices for President known, leaving Kentucky to follow (rather than to lead) the nation in these important decisions.
Th 2016 Republican Presidential Caucus — defined as a meeting of party members to select leadership — is an historic event for Kentucky. It is the first time a Republican Presidential Caucus has ever been held in the Commonwealth.
The GOP’s 2016 Kentucky Caucus is a different approach to selecting the party’s candidate for President than the primaries we have used before.
The Kentucky Caucus means Kentucky’s choice for the party’s 2016 GOP Presidential Candidate will happen earlier and will be more relevant on the national level. This earlier result will influence other states still using the primary method and will, ultimately, position Kentucky to have more more say in the outcome of the selection of our Republican Presidential Candidate.
Remember that 17-year-olds who have registered to vote and who will be 18 by election day, November 8, may vote in the caucus.
“This is not ‘winner takes all’ election,” says Phyllis Sparks, chairwoman of the Boone County caucus and vice chair of the Boone County Republican Party. “Delegates will be allocated in proportion to the caucus voting results.”
Caucus hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 5. This is the only one location and time in each county to vote during the caucus.
The Boone County caucus location is at the Florence Baptist Church at Mt. Zion, 642 Mt. Zion Road in Florence.
The Kenton County caucus location is Summit View Middle School, 5002 Madison Pike in Independence.
The Campbell County caucus location is Campbell County High School, 909 Camel Crossing in Alexandria.

I predict that turnout will be less than 5% of eligible voters. Teapartiers be in the majority and Trump and Cruz will split about 75% of the vote and Kentucky will become just another southern state politically. Thanks Senator Paul, thanks Republicans. I think Republicans will look back at this and say “was this a good idea”.
I agree with Mary. I am hearing from people not able to go to Campbell County High School to “caucus.” They are not very happy & I can’t say I disagree with that. It’s said this is because of Rand Paul’s selfishness.. Polls are open 12 hours as opposed to the caucus’s 6. Votes will be down. How can that be better? People are upset about this.
My wife and I are both big advocates of Donald Trump. We definitely need a man like him in the White House. I would like to have updates on Mr. Trump.
Being earlier in the year, on a Saturday, and with shorter hours should not matter. Those who are engaged and concerned about our country will find their way to vote.
This is the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen, how can someone be so stupid as to think filtering 100,000 people through one location is a good idea. We were excited about voting until we saw the hours long wait time just to get to the location to wait again. Please tell me there will be changes for the next vote.
Great….wanted to vote but would have had to wait in traffic and lines about 2 hrs…One location for each county was ridiculous…and only from 10-4. Just stupid…5 police cars trying to direct traffic on a very small exit of the interstate hwy 75…..I felt like my voting rights were taken from me…I’m very disgusted….
