Gateway Super Someday: event for high schoolers from around region showcases opportunities

On March 16, from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., Gateway Community and Technical College will host its second annual Super Someday, a new spin on Kentucky Community and Technical College’s (KCTCS) student recruitment initiative, Super Sunday.

High schools from Northern Kentucky and Ohio are invited to bring all interested students to this event showcasing Gateway opportunities. In 2015, the college hosted 90 students from six high schools. This year organizer Monica Yihad expects well over 100 students.

“Gateway faculty, staff and students come together to engage area high school students and showcase the wonderful programs offered here,” said Monica Yihad, Gateway’s Inclusion Coordinator. “I hope that the students who come to visit will remember the warm smiles and the interactions with staff, along with the information they received about our quality programs. But most of all, how Gateway can put them on the pathway to their goals.”

The high school students will tour Gateway’s Boone Campus, which includes the Integrated Manufacturing Center. Gateway faculty and staff will meet one-on-one with students discussing how they can earn associate degrees, technical diplomas and certificates that will prepare them to transfer or start a career. Students will discover that at Gateway they can truly start here and go ANYWHERE!
