A silent art auction and art sale — Art for Rabbit Hash — benefitting the restoration of the iconic Rabbit Hash General Store will be held on May 1, 2016 at The Florentine Event Center, 8605 Haines Dr., Florence.

Food and drinks provided. Admission is $5. Attendees can register online at ArtForRabbitHash.com or pay at the door.

Local art is a huge part of the history of Rabbit Hash, so it is fitting to hold an auction and sale of Rabbit Hash-themed original artworks and prints to raise funds for the restoration of the General Store, which caught fire on the night of February 13.

“Artwork is such a beautiful way to keep the people and places that we love close to the hearts of our families and our homes. It can also be a way to show support for local history and businesses,” said Sara Hadorn, the event coordinator.

Artwork available will include originals and prints by local professional artists and local hobbyist artists, a poster made by the people of Kentucky for Kentucky, photography, and more.

There is something in everyone’s price range available at Art for Rabbit Hash.

All proceeds will go directly to the Rabbit Hash Historical Society, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

The Rabbit Hash Historical Society was established in 1984 and is the trustee and owner of Rabbit Hash, Kentucky. The all-volunteer organization’s mission is to preserve the history and buildings of Rabbit Hash. The General Store has been in continuous operation since 1831 and was added to the National Registrar of Historic Places in 2003.
