AT&T has awarded a $6,000 grant to Covington’s SQUARE1’s ‘Idea to Startup’ entrepreneurship education program for high school students this summer.
SQUARE1 aims to expand the entrepreneurship program for high school students, building on two student groups sponsored by Skyward and Republic Bank.
The organization will work with those two student groups from Holmes High School to help them develop their business startup ideas over the summer.
T. Keith Schneider of SQUARE1 says, “We hope this is an ongoing program at Holmes, as we plan to recruit a new group of juniors in the fall to complement the seniors that are continuing with the program.
“We are also working with the Kenton County Academies and NKY UPSTREAM to educate participants from the first UPSTREAM EXPO in entrepreneurship and perhaps launch a few of their companies.”
SQUARE1 is an entrepreneur education and business startup nonprofit that helps individuals turn ideas and research into businesses.
The High School Entrepreneurship program offers after school and summer programs for students to help them explore ideas and to teach the principles of starting a business.
The program includes speakers and mentors who work with the students, as well as opportunities for the students to speak to or work with startup businesses.
