Waygr, created by a team of sports fans that are revolutionizing the way people connect through sports, announced the release of its new social sports app, now available in the App store.
An app that allows users to place and track sports bets with friends, Waygr captures the excitement of friendly rivalries and connects individuals through sports. The app allows people to place custom bets, play for points, or bet on commercial goods and/or services, all while providing analytics on how an individual’s performance compares to their peers, community, and the rest market. By partnering with brands like Reebok, Sam’s Club, Fanatics and many more, Waygr will suggest products and/or services to bet on with one another based on the individual’s interests.
“Our team has been working hard over the last few months, and we are excited about the latest release of our app,” said Kasim Ahmad, Waygr Founder and CEO. “We really appreciate the support of UpTech and the greater Cincinnati startup community. We will continue to engage our users and partners to keep improving as we strive to create the best ways for friends to connect through sports.”
Waygr was selected as one of seven startups accepted to the UpTech accelerator’s third cohort, UpTech 3. Shortly after their completion of the accelerator in 2015, Waygr released the beta version of its app. After receiving initial feedback from beta users, Waygr worked with a focus group and redesigned the app based on what they learned from users, resulting in the product you see today.
Daily fantasy sports (DFS) apps are in the news every day for two major reasons: their explosive popularity, and their legality. Waygr, the world’s first exchange-based betting platform, offers a legal alternative to DFS, while gamifying the age-old adage of the Gentleman’s bet. There are currently millions of undocumented interactions happening between friends on sports bets every day. The Waygr app solves this problem utilizing mobile, social, and big data.
