The Hot Magnolias, an eight-piece New Orleans Cajun/Creole jazz band, will open your eyes and ears with an exceptionally entertaining evening of music and showmanship this Thursday at the Behringer-Crawford Museum.
Formed in Cincinnati three years ago, the group includes vocals, horns, banjo, electric guitar, drums, bass and keyboard. They characterize their style as New Orleans Cajun/Creole from the 1930s to the present, but they also perform other styles, including 1920s traditional jazz favorites to 1970s funky dance songs.
The family-friendly concert takes place in BCM’s amphitheater at 1600 Montague Road – Devou Park, Covington, KY 41011. In the event of rain, the performance moves indoors. Doors open at 6 p.m. with food and refreshments, with the performance running from 7 to 9 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children ages 3-12.
Museum members receive one free admission when they bring a paying guest. Good for up to two free admissions. Adult beverages are available for purchase. Concert-goers can also purchase food by Colonial Cottage of Erlanger, KY, supporting local community organizations. Parking is free.
Music@BCM continues each Thursday evening through August 11. For more information, call 859-491-4003, email info@bcmuseum.org or go to www.bcmuseum.org.
