For the third consecutive week, a Freedom player has earned a Frontier League honor as Taylor Oldham earned that recognition Tuesday.
Oldham helped the Freedom to a 3-3 week by hitting .429 (9-for-21) with two doubles, three home runs, eight runs scored, and six RBIs. He hit home runs in three consecutive games during the week and went 4-for-5 with two doubles and a home run against the Lake Erie Crushers on Saturday.
This season, Oldham has solidified himself as one of the best hitters in the Frontier League. He ranks third in the league in runs scored (55) and hits (88), sixth in on-base percentage (.402) seventh in batting average (.324), tied for seventh in home runs (11), and eighth in RBIs (53).
He also leads the Freedom in all six of those statistical categories.
This is the second week in a row that the Freedom have secured the Frontier League Player of the Week award after Andrew Godbold won it a week ago. Jeremy Gooding (May 14) and Jordan Kraus (July 25) were both named the league’s Pitcher of the Week earlier this season.
The Freedom begin a quick road series against the River City Rascals with a doubleheader on Wednesday. Jeremy Gooding (5-6, 4.05 ERA) and Tony Vocca (1-1, 4.23 ERA) are the scheduled starters for the Freedom.
