Local Brownies/Daisies, Troop 7151 Girl Scouts of Kentucky Wilderness Road, worked for months with the Sea Turtle Conservancy of Jacksonville, Florida to help save sea turtles one cookie bag at a time.

The Girl Scouts contacted the Sea Turtle Conservancy which sent the troop all kinds of goodies to help raise awareness during their busy cookie season.

If you purchased cookies from Troop 7151 you got a reusable bag with brochures, bumper stickers, and materials about protecting sea turtles.

Northern Kentucky seems far from the ocean, but our trash often makes its way to the sea, impacting the life of all the living creatures there, especially the sea turtles.

Using reusable bags are just one of many ways to stop detrimental waste from impacting our oceans.

Girl Scout Troop 7151 made a short video explaining some other things you can do right here in Kentucky to help save the sea.

The Brownies and Daisies designed a story board, wrote the screen play, performed, and filmed this clever little piece.

Then they went to the Apple Store and learned to use editing software to edit the film. The Apple Store was generous enough to give them their own room and iPads to complete the project.

You can watch their finished YouTube video at https://youtu.be/6v2u6qmzjjQ

Troop 7151, didn’t stop there! They also proudly adopted, Tinkerbell, who is currently being tracked and is doing great!

These young conservationists hope to raise awareness and inspire the change!
