Colvin named to state Chamber board

Garren Colvin, president and CEO of St. Elizabeth Healthcare, was recently elected to the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce’s board of directors. The board of directors represents a cross-section of Kentucky business and industry leaders and works to advance Kentucky through advocacy, information, program management and customer service in order to promote business retention and recruitment.
Panelists named for Eggs ‘N’ Issues
On Tuesday, October 18 the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce will present Eggs ‘N Issues: Workforce & Talent Development from 7:30-9 a.m. at Receptions Banquet and Conference Center in Erlanger.
The Chamber will convene a panel of local experts for an in-depth discussion of workforce and talent development in our region. Attendees will learn what businesses need to do to attract and retain talent and what resources are available to help in this process.
Scheduled panelists include Jason Ashbrook (Kentucky Career Center), Michelle Cestaric (Staffmark), Dr. Fernando Figueroa (Gateway Community & Technical College), and Janice Urbanik (Partners for a Competitive Workforce).

New director of Commission on Women speaking
The Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce will welcome newly appointed Executive Director of Kentucky’s Commission on Women, Cordelia Harbut, to Northern Kentucky Women’s Initiative luncheon on October 25.
Cordelia, “Dee Dee,” Harbut was appointed by Gov. Matt Bevin to head the small agency, created by the state legislature in 1970 to elevate the status of and expand opportunities for women and girls in Kentucky. Ms. Harbut’s goal is getting women to build together and connect with other women as part of the “1000 Mentors Program.” The focus of her message at the luncheon will be women of all backgrounds coming together to help and empower each other to excel personally and professionally, plus have a positive impact on their community.
“The NKY Chamber Women’s Initiative is all about connecting women with other women so we are very excited to welcome “Dee Dee” as our presenter. The luncheon will also feature “Connect” points where attendees can learn from various companies how they are helping local women grow” said Michelle Frommeyer, Waddell & Reed, co-chair of the event. “I am certain the attendees will also enjoy learning Ms. Harbut’s story and Kentucky’s initiatives towards helping others achieve more.”
The luncheon will be held October 25th at the Radisson Hotel Cincinnati Riverfront, 668 W. Fifth Street, Covington, from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
