Covington Commission to hold public meeting on integrated five-year strategic plan on April 18


The Covington City Commission will hold a public hearing to obtain the views of citizens, public agencies, representatives of adjacent units of general local government and other interested parties regarding the Consolidated Plan and the Annual Action Plan (Year Five of the Five Year Strategic Plan) for the period July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2018.

The public hearing is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, April 18, at 6 p.m. in the City Hall Commission Chambers, 20 W. Pike Street.
 
The Consolidated Plan is an integrated approach that incorporates the planning, application and reporting requirements for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) for the City of Covington and the Home Investment Partnerships (HOME) programs for the City of Covington and the Northern Kentucky HOME Consortium. The NKY HOME Consortium includes the cities of Ludlow, Newport, Bellevue, and Dayton.


   
The Annual Action Plan details the actions to be undertaken during the next year to address the priority needs and objectives of the City of Covington and the NKY HOME Consortium cities. The CDBG and HOME funds are provided through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The City anticipates receiving funding in the amounts of approximately $1,390,754 in CDBG entitlement funding and approximately $423,948 in HOME entitlement funding.

Each year the City of Covington receives CDBG and HOME funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Proposals for the use of CDBG funds include Public Improvements, Park Improvements, Housing Rehabilitation Programs, Crime Prevention Efforts, Recreation Programs, Code Enforcement, and Economic Development Efforts. 

Proposals for the use of HOME funds include the Homebuyer Assistance Programs and Housing Development Programs.
