For the first time in a decade, no University of Kentucky football player was chosen in the NFL Draft.
Although no former Wildcat was selected in the yearly draft, three former Wildcats signed free agent contracts following the three-day draft that ended Saturday in Philadelphia.
sophomore season, Timmons hauled in 45 passes for 536 yards and a pair of touchdowns and had a 56-yard catch, the longest of his four-year career with the Wildcats.
Williams signed with the Cincinnati Bengals as a free agent and Harmon, a defensive back inked a deal with the Cleveland Browns.
Projected to be selected between the third ad seventh round of the draft, Kentucky center Jon Toth went undrafted and has yet to sign as a free agent. Toth started 47 straight games for the Wildcats and was instrumental in helping Williams and Benny Snell eclipse the 1,000 rushing yards last season.
Kentucky recruiting coordinator Vince Morrow was disappointed no Kentucky player got chosen in the three-day event but said the Wildcats will do better in the future.
“Big shout out and thanks to those players that signed yesterday,” Marrow tweeted Sunday. But, I guarantee from now on, we will not have an undrafted player.”
Former Kentucky signal caller Patrick Towles, who played his senior season at Boston College last season, inked a deal with the Houston Texas.
The Southeastern Conference had 53 players chosen in the draft. Alabama had 10 players selected, with nine in the first two rounds, including four first-round selections.
Jamal Adams, son of former Kentucky standout running back George Adams, was chosen in the first round by the New York Jets. Jamal Adams, a cornerback, enjoyed a stellar four-year career at LSU.
