Flottweg, a leading manufacturer of centrifuges, belt presses and separators for solid-liquid separation, has broken ground on construction of a 1,700-square-foot laboratory and testing area expansion.
Once construction is complete, the addition will include an expanded laboratory, upgraded testing equipment, and a high-speed balancing bunker.
The laboratory expansion will include the latest instrumentation for testing separation feasibility on customer samples.
Upon completion of these feasibility tests in the new laboratory, Flottweg will continue to offer on-site trials to demonstrate lab results, allowing customers to verify that machines will perform as promised.
Flottweg is also adding a new high-speed balance bunker next to its existing balancing facilities to allow for separate machine part testing at maximum operating speeds. Decanter bowls and scrolls can be balanced up to 5,000 rpm and separator bowls up to 10,000 rpm.
“This laboratory expansion will enable us to analyze more customer product samples with increased predictability of centrifuge performance once installed,” said Dan Ellis, Flottweg President. “The high-speed balancing bunker will also allow us to increase or balance capabilities as our product line expands and will further increase reliability of our products.”
Throughout the past decade, Flottweg has continually committed resources to meet the growing needs of its customers by increasing its footprint in the U.S. and Canada.
These investments include: construction of a 26,500-square-foot facility for parts storage, service stations, lab testing and offices; a 5,500-square foot facility for machining repair facilities and equipment; 8,000 square feet of additional office space; and a new 20,000-square-foot facility with skid fabrication, new machine testing, storage, and additional offices.
