Scripps Howard Foundation gives NKU’s food pantry $10,000 in honor of Rich Boehne’s retirement

Northern Kentucky University’s food pantry, FUEL NKU, has received a $10,000 grant from the Scripps Howard Foundation. The grant is in honor of Rich Boehne’s retirement as the President and CEO of

The E.W. Scripps Company. Boehne is an NKU alumnus and chair of the university’s Board of Regents.

FUEL NKU serves as both a food pantry and a campus community committed to fight against hunger on campus. It provides food and essentials to students in a compassionate, confidential and safe environment.

“FUEL NKU would like to thank the Scripps Howard Foundation and NKU Board of Regents Chair Rich Boehne for this grant. This funding will enable us to broaden our impact among the NKU campus community, and we are thrilled to be able to serve more of our students,” said Dr. Jessica Averitt Taylor, faculty coordinator for FUEL NKU.

“This food pantry relies exclusively on the support of our campus and community partners, and we are grateful to all of you for your continued generosity.”

The grant will further FUEL NKU’s efforts to better serve students. The pantry is currently in need of snacks, canned fruits and breakfast items. It also always needs non-perishables, toiletries and other necessities.

FUEL NKU is located in Room 142 of the University Center and donations can be dropped off at the pantry. For more information, please email fuel@nku.edu or visit inside.nku.edu/coehs/beyond/fuelnku.html.
