Covington Police have arrested a juvenile in connection with a terroristic threat dissemiated through social media toward Holmes High School.
The name of the suspect has not been released because he/she is a juvenile.
Police officials say they are confident there is no longer an active threat against the school or its student.
Covington Police released the following statement regarding the incident.
On Sunday, February 04, 2018 at approximately 11:00 AM, the Covington Police received information regarding a threat made toward Holmes High School through social media. These threats were very serious in nature and the Covington Police began an investigation immediately upon notification of the threat.
At approximately 3:10 PM Covington Police Detectives were able to identify a JUVENILE suspect and he/she was taken in to custody by 3:45 PM.
The juvenile is currently being lodged in the Campbell County Juvenile Detention Facility on the charge of Terroristic Threatening in the 2nd Degree.
We are confident that there is no longer an active threat against the school or its students, faculty or staff, and that there are no other individuals involved in this threat.
Considering that the suspect is a juvenile we are not permitted to release the name or any other identifying information about him/her.
