Battaglia Selections for Thursday, March 1
RACE 1
TIGER LISA is a three-year-old taking on older runners but she drops to the bottom and hooks a fairly weak field. DOWNCITY is a six-year-old mare with just one win but she has some decent form on the all-weather surfaces and is the one to beat. PRINCESS HEART is a contender.
RACE 2
TIZWAYORTHEHIGHWAY failed as the favorite last out but gets blinkers for this one. She has the speed to lead all the way with Sarvis picking up the mount. NO SOCKS MAUK beat the top pick last out and is again the main competition. RUNABOUT drops in class for Wes Ward and has to be respected.
RACE 3
J DUB is winless in 20 starts but comes off of a couple of decent efforts over this track and drops in class. He can beat this bunch. REAL DISCREET also drops to the bottom and will be tough at this level. AUSTIN RAY fits in here.
RACE 4
TETRADRACHM is a nine-year-old veteran with career earnings of more than $450,000. He comes off of a narrow loss last out and has the speed to be on or near the lead throughout tonight. MR GREY comes off of a nice win and will be running at the end. FUJITA FIVE has a solid record over this track and is a contender.
RACE 5
TIZZA TEMPER comes off of back-to-back runner-up efforts for Mike Maker. She gets the nod in what looks like a well matched maiden race. OUR CAUSE was dull in her first race back after an eight-month layoff. She definitely needed that one and can be expected to run much better tonight. BRILLIANT MISSY ran a decent race in her first try over this track and is a solid threat.
RACE 6
MOMENT OF TRIUMPH has been in the money in six of her last seven races and appears to be in a good spot to pick up her maiden win with Ouzts back aboard for Wayne Minnock. TWISTED ADAGE was well beaten by the top pick last out after setting the pace. She has had a couple of decendt works since then and figures to improve in here. WAVE DANCER is lightly raced and should move forward.
RACE 7
MOUNT CALVARY has shown big improvement in his last two races. He has the tactical speed to be in contention throughout and rates the slight edge with Lebron picking up the mount for Tracey Young. CALM PACIFIC ran a decent race in his first try back after an eleven-month layoff. He ran very well over this track last year and a return to his best would make him very tough to beat. CAPTURE THE GLORY fits in here.
RACE 8
PAMPERED VOW didn’t break sharply last out but figures to be on or near the lead in this one. Give her the edge in a very well matched maiden race. MYFAVORITE MISTAKE just missed in her last two and figures to be tough to beat. HERO OF THE BEST is a first-timer with Lebron listed to ride.
