Commonwealth Artists Student Theatre (CAST) wants to help prepare high school students (and their parents!) looking at becoming theatre majors in college.
Beginning Sunday, September 30, a four-part Masterclass Series entitled Auditioning & Interviewing for Theatre Programs will be presented by Artistic Director Jason Burgess and other qualified facilitators.
The series will begin with a look at how to begin and select programs and colleges, transition to helping students choose appropriate material/portfolio work, polish their selections and interview skills, and culminates with a mock college audition/tech interviews session.
Here’s the schedule:
September 30: How/Where to Start? Separate sessions for students and parents before coming together to answer questions and concerns raised earlier.
October 21: Choosing Your Material. The right monologue and music selections and make or break an audition. This session will offer advice and answer questions about choosing material, structuring a resume and/or portfolio, and getting through prescreens.
November 18: Audition and Interview Prep. How to best rehearse and prepare monologues, dance, and musical pieces and to prepare for the interview.
January 6: Mock Audition/Tech Interviews. Students will be put to the test by going through the audition/interview process to see if they are ready or what they need to polish up.
All classes run from 6-9 p.m. at Highlands High School in Fort Thomas.
Registration is open now for all four classes at $190 or individual classes at $65 each. For more information and to register, visit https://www.caststages.org/education.
