Subscriptions for The Carnegie’s 2019-20 season, filled with shows to please audiences of all ages, are now on sale.
Theatre goers will be transported from a punk rock show to the troubled mind of a brilliant mathematician, back to biblical times, and finally to the London nightclub scene in the 1960s.
In addition to four nights of theatre, subscription packages offer special perks for audiences. Subscribers will be invited to exclusive meet & greets with the cast and crew during rehearsals for each of the shows. The private events will be an opportunity to learn more about the rehearsal and production process, and get more background on the show before seeing it on stage. In addition, subscribers will receive discounts at the bar and special offers on extra tickets through the box office.
Subscribers will get their choice of seats for the 2019-20 season, featuring Green Day’s AMERICAN IDIOT, a rock opera featuring songs from Green Day’s 2004 album of the same name; PROOF, the Tony Award-winning play that explores the line between brilliance and madness; JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT, The Carnegie’s annual family-friendly musical; and END OF THE RAINBOW, the savagely funny drama about Judy Garland’s trip down the comeback trail.
Subscriptions for the 2019-20 Theatre Season are $106, $102 for Carnegie Members, and are currently on sale. Also available are Pick 3 Subscriptions starting at $83, $76 for Carnegie Members. Single tickets go on sale Friday, March 29, at noon. This two-time Tony Award-winning musical, based on the Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum album of the same name, is a high-energy rock opera not to be missed. Three disaffected young men, living in suburbia, have dreams of a different life in the city. They embark on their big move, only to find their friendships breaking down over family responsibilities, military enlistment, and the allure of drug abuse. Each young man must make peace with the circumstances of his life to find his way back home and to the friends he left behind.
AMERICAN IDIOT is a non-stop rock concert of Green Day favorites, including “Holiday,” “Boulevard of Broken Dreams,” “Wake Me Up When September Ends,” and “Time of Your Life.”

Catherine, a troubled young woman, has spent years caring for her brilliant but unstable father, a math professor at The University of Chicago. Following his death, she must deal with her own volatile emotions; the arrival of her estranged sister, Claire; and the attentions of Hal, a former student of her father’s, who hopes to find valuable work in the notebooks he left behind. In the ensuing struggles, a mysterious notebook surfaces to draw Catherine into the most difficult problem of all: How much of her father’s madness – or genius – will she inherit?
Winner of the 2001 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and Tony Award for Best Play, PROOF is a compelling drama with elements of mystery, romance, and old-fashioned storytelling. It was made into a major motion picture in 2005 starring Gwyneth Paltrow, Anthony Hopkins, and Jake Gyllenhaal.

The year is 1968 and Judy Garland is set firmly on the comeback trail. The failed marriages, the suicide attempts, and the addictions are all behind her. At forty-six and with new flame Mickey Deans at her side, she seems determined to carry it off and recapture her magic. But lasting happiness always eludes some people, and there was never any answer to the question with which Judy ended every show: “If happy little bluebirds fly beyond the rainbow, why, oh why, can’t I?”
END OF THE RAINBOW is a savagely funny drama featuring a glorious ensemble of Judy Garland hits such as “Get Happy,” “The Man that Got Away,” and, of course, “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.”
