DEMOSSVILLE, Ky. (KT) — Kentucky State Police and fire officials are investigating a barn fire in northern Kentucky that left three people dead, late Sunday night.
The KSP says Carl Grizovicu, 35, along with his 7- and 9-year-old daughters were pronounced deceased after their remains were found inside the structure. Their names have not yet been released.
A fire official told WXIX-TV that the mother of the girls and three other children were not in the barn at the time of the fire.
The official says the barn was built over the summer from ‘timber off the land’ and had electricity running through it. It had two floors: a ground floor with hay and an area for animals and a ‘loft’ with furniture that appeared to be a play area for the five children.
State Police at the Dry Ridge Post say the cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Campbell County Fire Investigation team, but foul play is not suspected.
An autopsy is to be performed by the State Medical Examiner’s office to determine the cause of death of the three victims.
The barn was reported to be a total loss.
