High quality child care is a backbone to our society. These programs support our economy in two ways.
High quality child care allows parents to actively engage in the workforce and it begins the important work of educating our next generation.
While this work is vital to our community’s success it is often under-appreciated in the pay and recognition for Early Education Teachers.
Learning Grove has made one bold step to fixing this inequity by offering free child care to teachers employed by the organization.
“Our three-year strategic plan calls for focusing on initiatives that elevate the Early Care and Education field. Ensuring that the children of our dedicated and hardworking teachers have access to our high-quality early learning programs is just one way we can say thank you to our staff,” said Shannon Starkey-Taylor, CEO.
The majority of Learning Grove’s workforce are Early Education Teachers and Before and After School employees.
The nonprofit organization hopes that this bold move will allow for the recruitment and retention of the best teachers in our region.
