Art, legends, and local flair take center stage at third annual Covington Cryptid Block Party Oct. 12

The third annual Covington Cryptid Block Party will return to Northern Kentucky Saturday, October 12.

The free, all-ages event has moved to a larger and more central location, taking over a block of Pike Street, between Madison and Washington. Featuring cryptids like the local Cincinnati Octo-Man, Bearilla, Mothman, Dogman, and Bigfoot, there will be photo opportunities, free activities, giveaways, dancing, costumes, and more. The event runs from noon to 6 p.m.

Artists will be showcasing and selling everything from stickers and prints to cassette tapes and video games. Refreshments by Fabled Brew Works and Wendigo Tea Company will be there to accompany food by Red Bird Deli, and treats by Laughing Bees Honey. Several local non-profits will be there to represent good causes, including a new activity with Art Equals.

Co-founder and artist Amanda Wood has created more cryptid masks, hats, and life-size puppets. Costumes, props, and general cheer are highly encouraged, and there will be a limited number of cryptid masks and hats to borrow and dance around in. You won’t want to miss the very special cryptid mischief choreographed by InBocca Performance. There will also be surprises, giveaways, and the return of the free face painter.

The annual street festival is intended to add to the unique and wacky Covington vibe, encourging the community to gather, have fun, and learn about local art, artists, and community organizations.

The Covington Cryptid Block Party is free and open to the public, and all are welcome. For more information and a full list of vendors, visit cryptidcov.blog.
