Cooper-Highands leads list of postponed Friday football games in NKY due to weather

The potential game of the year in Northern Kentucky high school football is among nine Friday games postponed due to rain and windy conditions and rescheduled at this time.

The Class 5A district showdown between unbeaten Cooper (5-0), last year’s state finalists, and host Highlands (4-1), leads the way for the slate of rescheduled games, now set to kick off at 10 a.m. Saturday at David Cecil Stadium in Ft. Thomas.

The two teams split their games last season with Highlands winning a 58-51 shootout at Cooper in the regular season with Cooper getting revenge in a 17-15 playoff win at Highlands to advance to the state championship game.

Cooper is ranked as Class 5A’s No. 1 team according to the KHSAA RPI ratings while Highlands is listed as No. 8.

Other games moved to Saturday include:

• Gallatin County at Beechwood, 10 a.m.

• Bracken County at Walton-Verona, 3 p.m.

• Campbell County at Harrison (Ohio), 11 a.m.

• Conner at Scott, 12 p.m.

• Dixie Heights at Boone County, 12 p.m.

• Marion County at Dayton, 5 p.m.

Monday’s Games

• Ludlow at Pendleton County, 6 p.m.

• Bellevue at Cincinnati James Gamble Montessori, 5 p.m.

Games that have yet to be rescheduled from Friday include:

• Holy Cross hosting Cincinnati College Prep Academy (7 p.m.) and Raceland vs. Newport Central Catholic at Covington Catholic (7:30 p.m.).

• Friday’s Lexington Paul Laurence Dunbar game at Simon Kenton is listed as “canceled” on the KHSAA schedule Website.
