Maintenance project Sunday on I-275 at KY-17 in Kenton County to cause double lane closures

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) is advising motorists of a maintenance project on a portion of Interstate 275 in Kenton County on Sunday, Sept. 15.

KYTC Kenton County maintenance crews will be working near the east bridge end of the bridge overpass on I-275 eastbound and westbound over Madison Pike (KY 17). Crews will work between mile points 79.4 and 79.5, a distance of 0.5 miles.

Motorists should expect a double lane closure on I-275 eastbound and westbound beginning at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 15. Additionally, the on-ramp from Madison Pike (KY 17) to I-275 eastbound will be closed from Sunday, Sept. 15 at 6 p.m., to Monday, Sept. 16 at 6 a.m.

Crews will begin by milling the left and middle lane of I-275 eastbound. Once milling is completed, paving operations on the eastbound lanes will begin. This work will be repeated on the left and middle westbound lanes once the eastbound section is complete.

Following the two westbound lanes being milled and paved, the maintenance crew will flip back to I-275 eastbound for a single right lane closure to finish milling and paving. This work may require a temporary closure of the off-ramp from I-275 eastbound to Madison Pike (KY 17).

Crews will then switch back over to I-275 westbound for a single right lane closure to complete milling and paving operations in the area.

Motorists are advised to find an alternate route during the evening/overnight working hours. Expect delays and avoid the area, if possible. This project is being performed during evening/overnight hours to mitigate traffic disruptions during peak travel periods.

Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by Monday, Sept. 16 at 6 a.m. All lanes and ramps would reopen by 6 a.m.

The date, time, and duration of work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur. Motorists can get Northern Kentucky road construction updates on the District 6 Roadshow. For Kentucky’s latest traffic and travel information, visit GoKy, TRIMARC, and WAZE.
