Covington Partners celebrates 25 years — and a name change to Partners for Change

Covington Partners celebrated its 25th Silver Anniversary at its recent gala — and welcomed a new name, too. It is now Partners for Change, making an “exciting new chapter” for the organization that reflects both it legacy and its vision for the future.

For 25 years, you have known us simply as a partner. Now the organization is expanding the reach of its programing to provide mentoring, family engagement, and out-of-school-time programming not only toe students in Covington Independent Schools but also to those in Newport, Independent, Ludlow, and Erlanger-Elsmere schools districts.

“Change represents transformation. Change means engaging in new experiences, altering perspectives, and turning dreams into reality. It is the heart of our mission: to help our students and their families grow, adapt, and thrive. And this name, Partners for Change, perfectly reflects our commitment to that mission,” wrote board chair Phyllis Yeager in announcing the name change.

At the annual gala event held at Madison Event Center in Covington, Partners for Change honored Dr. Carissa Schutzman and Senator Chris McDaniel with the Visionary Award; Nancy Grayson and DBL Law with the Above & Beyond Award; Vicki Seligman with Margaret Fifer Award; and Norm and Lisa Desmarais with the Founder’s Award.

Executive Director Stacie Strotman also announced the establishment of the Dr. Janice Wilkerson Scholarship Fund to honor the organization’s founder.

The first scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior in 2025.
