The Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce (NKY Chamber) has announced the creation of its newest Business Council in Newport.
Officially launching on Jan. 1, the Newport Business Council (formerly known as the Newport Business Association) will help business owners in Newport better connect to local officials and the region and more effectively communicate through a collaborative relationship with the NKY Chamber. The Newport Business Council joins the Fort Thomas and Florence Business Councils which were formed in September 2023.

Specific goals for the Business Councils include fostering collaboration, promoting economic growth and providing support for the development of businesses, as well as serving as a platform for networking, knowledge sharing and advocating on issues that impact their specific business communities.
Mark Ramler, co-founder of Mansion Hill Properties and president of the former Newport Business Association, will serve as the first chair of the newly formed Newport Business Council.
“Attracting new businesses, filling vacant storefronts and creating a unified front is key to moving Newport – and the Northern Kentucky region – forward,” Ramler said. “We are excited to collaborate closely with the NKY Chamber and leverage shared resources and opportunities to uplift and strengthen the Newport business community while working with the city toward policy changes and incentives that will positively impact the community as a whole.”
Business Council membership is open to businesses, industry associations, government officials, educational institutions, and community organizations operating within respective city limits. For NKY Chamber member businesses located in a participating city, council membership is automatically included with NKY Chamber membership. Businesses do not have to be a member of the NKY Chamber to participate in a Business Council. Individual Business Council dues vary by council and renew annually.
Meetings will be held monthly to discuss key issues, initiatives, and progress of the Business Council and will rotate meeting locations. The first meeting of the Newport Business Council will take place 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 28, at The Prestant (720 York St, Newport) and the topic will be “What’s New in Newport.”
“Partnering with cities for the Business Councils unites our region and offers essential support for small businesses to thrive,” said NKY Chamber Member Relations Specialist Beth Farrer. “The Business Councils have proven to be integral to the NKY Chamber’s regional success strategy, creating opportunities for all communities to advance their business interests, and we are excited to welcome Newport.”
