Open Letter to Readers: Deadline nears for NewsMatch challenge — please support by midnight Wednesday

Dear Readers:

We have until midnight Wednesday, Dec. 31, to meet (and hopefully exceed) the challenge we have from our national NewsMatch funders to match all INDIVIDUAL contributions to the NKyTribune.

The idea of the annual campaign, funded by a coalition of national funders who believe in local nonprofit news, is to encourage individual readers to support and sustain it.

This funding is important to a super-local general news nonprofit organization like the NKyTribune as we continue to provide daily news to all readers — providing free access to all services, including a daily email headline service delivered to your email box on request. We are riding the wave of the future to save real news for local communities.

We don’t pretend to be perfect and there is also no pretense at all in our devotion to NKY and to our love and affection for the place we call home. We founded the NKyTribune in 2015 and in this year when we celebrate over 10 years of service to this community, we are thinking about the next ten years. . .We are going to continue to earn your respect and to deserve your support.

As a nonprofit, we belong to the community and we embrace our mission with a promise to continue to do all we can — and to hope for more. There is more we can do, of course, but that “more” takes resources.

We are asking for your support. Just two days to go. Contribute whatever you can (it’s as much about people as it is about numbers). Contribute on-line through the link below. It is secure.

Or get your contribution in the mail (postmarked by midnight Dec. 31) with a check dated no later than Dec. 31 and send it to the NKyTribune, 644 Braddock Ct., Edgewood, Ky 41017.

The NKyTribune is and always has been a true nonprofit published by the Kentucky Center for Public Service Journalism which has 501-c-3 public charity status with the IRS. Your contribution is deductible to the extent allowed by law. You can see the 501-c-3 information at the “Who We Are” section accessible on the Homepage of the NKyTribune.

Thank you — and Happy New Year. We are looking forward to sharing a great New Year with you.

Fond regards on behalf of the dedicated team here,
