CVG expecting up to 1.2 million travelers during spring break travel period ending April 12


The spring break travel period is in progress and ends April 12 this year. Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) is expecting as many as 1.2 million travelers over a six-week period, a 1-2% increase compared to last year.

Travelers in the Cincinnati region are mostly headed to popular Florida destinations, however Phoenix edged out Tampa in the top five list this year. CVG prepares for more passenger volume through close coordination with its airline partners, the TSA, the FAA, and concessionaires.

Below are some highlights and travel tips for spring break travelers.

• Peak departure days: Sundays, Mondays and Saturdays during the six-week period
• Busiest time for departures: 5-7 a.m.
• Busiest time for arrivals: 5-11 p.m.

Travel tips:

• Download your airline’s app to check in to your flight and receive the latest flight information.

• Plan your parking before you leave home, as the terminal garage sometimes fills up during busy travel seasons. Check for updates at www.cvgairport.com.

• As you head to the airport, check security wait times on the home page of CVGAirport.com.

• Arrive at least two hours before your scheduled departure for a domestic flight and three hours early for international travel.

• Become familiar with what is allowed through the TSA line. Gun owners: Make sure you don’t have a firearm in your purse or carry-on luggage. If you accidentally bring it to the security checkpoint, you will pay up to $11,000 in fines and the gun will be permanently confiscated.
