Adults interested in advancing their careers and earning higher wages are invited to attend the NKY Training Showcase on Wednesday, April 1, from 3–6 p.m. at the Kentucky Career Center, located at 1324 Madison Avenue in Covington.
The event will connect job seekers with organizations offering short-term training programs that lead to in-demand careers, as well as information about financial assistance that can help cover training costs.
“Education pays,” said Correy Eimer, director of NKY Works and the Northern Kentucky Workforce Investment Board (NKWIB). “Salaries increase and unemployment decreases with each level of education beyond high school. In fact, a typical worker with some postsecondary education earns about $5,000 to $9,000 more per year than someone with only a high school diploma.”
During the NKY Training Showcase, participants can:
• Learn about short-term training programs aligned with in-demand jobs
• Meet organizations offering financial aid and tuition assistance
• Connect with nonprofit organizations providing support services such as career coaching, transportation assistance, and other resources that help individuals succeed in training and employment
The event is free and open to the public. Registration is encouraged but not required, and is available online via the NKY Works event website.
The event is hosted by NKY Works, a collective impact initiative that aligns workforce programs across the region to drive innovation and improve outcomes for employers and job seekers. NKY Works and the NKWIB are housed within and supported by the Northern Kentucky Area Development District.
