Staff report
For 54 years the Duveneck Art Show — hosted by Baker Hunt Art and Cultural Center — has been held at Covington’s George Rogers Clark Park. This year’s show will see new changes to the show’s format, including a new location.
The 55th Duveneck Art Show, scheduled form 5-10 p.m. May 16, will be held on the two-acre campus of Baker Hunt, located at 620 Greenup Street in Covington. Parking will be available on Baker Hunt’s private lot.
Additionally this year, Baker Hunt is partnering with Purple Paisley artisan shop, located at 715 Scott Blvd., to create a community art walk, between the two locations. Baker Hunt presented the idea of a community art WALK after finding Purple Paisley planned its own art show on the same date. The organizations agreed on showcasing the two art events jointly, while supporting the businesses in-between both locations.
Guests to both the Duveneck Art Show at Baker Hunt and the Local Artisan Show at Purple Paisley will have the opportunity to stroll between the two organizations while enjoying other festivities and supporting local businesses along the way. Visitors will be able to enjoy coffee from Left Bank Coffee, shopping from Maison Boutique, fibers from the Stitch Yarn Studio, and more.
A digital map of the art walk will be released, including a layout of the walk, scavenger hunt information, and a listing of special sales and promotions from each business along the walk route, will be released closer to the event.
The Duveneck Show on the Baker Hunt campus will also have live music and food trucks available on site. Both art shows will offer art demos, a scavenger hunt, and showcase dozens of talented artists from the region; including paintings, stained glass, ceramics, wood working, and more.
Baker Hunt and Purple Paisley are still accepting art vendors for the event. Visit www.bakerhunt.org or www.purplepaisleyartisanshop.com to learn more about each organizations show, and apply.
