Business was brisk at the Amazon table. That table was just one of 32 local and area businesses looking for people – to work.

“We have jobs at the entry level, warehouse positions in Northern Kentucky,” Rick Nickels, Amazon Staff Administrator told the Northern Kentucky Tribune.
Turfway Park was the home of the second CVG Airport Campus Career Fair, Wednesday afternoon.
“We saw a lot of traffic last year,” Karen Stanfield, Graeter’s district manager, told the Tribune, “but we didn’t hire anyone. Maybe this year will be different.”
Stanfield said she was looking to hire entry-level team personnel.
“They could work themselves to a Team Manager,” she said.
Graeter’s has five locations in Northern Kentucky – including one at the airport.
The CVG Airport Campus Career Fair featured Compass employers – from the airport.

“It included some from concessions – like Wendy’s – to Manzie’s Aviation,” Shelly Douds, Talent Acquisition Specialist for Menzies Aviation, CVG, told the Tribune.
Menzies is an airport service provider – they handle ground services – 29,000 aircraft weekly; cargo – they carry 2.4 million tons-a-year; and fueling – 9,000 aircraft daily.
Amazon, Menzies, DHL as well as several other carriers were looking for help during the afternoon session.
James Johnson was one of many looking to be hired.
“I’d like mechanical work,” the 24-year-old, West Clermont High School grad told the Tribune. “I made the trip here — from Cincinnati — to find something.”

Presently, he works construction, but his dream, he says, is to be a pilot.
“That costs money. I’ll need a good job to save for that. Cargo or re-fueler would be fine for me now.”
The Career Fair is certainly a great opportunity for job seekers to meet potential employers and learn about the wide arrays of positions available in and around the airport.
And for those needing help “selling” themselves, Mikaela Brungs, a public programmer from the Kenton County Library, was manning a table. “We’re here as a resource; a job search assistant.”

Amazon seemed to have the longest lines – and the best swag — but Graeter’s had the best treats.
From high school grads to even some senior citizens, everyone wants to work.
