Edgewood City Clerk, Belinda Nitschke named Kentucky Municipal Clerk of the Year for 2026


Edgewood City Clerk, Belinda Nitschke, has been named the Kentucky Municipal Clerks Association’s Clerk of the Year for 2026.

Clerk of the Year Chair Kathy Walker presented Nitschke with the prestigious award at KMCA’s annual Spring Conference in Paducah.

Nitschke was nominated by her City Administrator Brian Dehner who relayed in his letter of support that, “she exemplifies the very best of the municipal clerk profession through her leadership, integrity, professionalism, commitment to education, and unwavering dedication to public service.”

Nitschke has been the Edgewood City Clerk since 2018, joining the City of Edgewood in 2012 as Deputy City Clerk. Dehner stated, that she “embodies the essential qualities of excellence in the profession – meticulous attention to detail, deep knowledge of municipal operations, and a proactive, solutions-oriented approach.”

She has been a member of the KMCA since 2012 and has received her Certified Kentucky Municipal Clerk (CKMC) designation as well as her Kentucky Master Municipal Clerk (KMMC) designation. As a member of the state association, she has volunteered on the Bylaws Committee, Education Committee, Public Relations Committee, and Elections Committee. She currently serves KMCA as Vice President, Vice Chair of the Education Committee, and Chair of the Spring Conference Committee. She has served the Northern Kentucky Municipal Clerks Association (NKMCA) as Treasurer, Regional Representative, and Director. She also has earned her Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) designation and has applied for her Master Municipal Clerk (MMC) designation from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC).

Nitschke’s related professional and community involvements include: Kentucky Public Human Resources Association (KPHRA), having served as Secretary and Vice President and Northern Kentucky Government Finance Officers Association (NKGFOA). She is also a graduate of Leadership Northern Kentucky.

KMCA is a professional organization, providing opportunities and resources for professional development and continuing education. KMCA provides its members with on-going educational opportunities designed to assist members in the performance of their daily job responsibilities and equip them to face the future with confidence. KMCA sponsors certification programs and provides support to its members to impart standards of quality and integrity to the profession and to improve the methods and procedures, which meet the needs of the public as efficiently and effectively as possible.

Nitschke is married to Brian Nitschke, and they reside in Union. They enjoy golfing and spending time with family and friends.
