Residents and historic homeowners across the region can attend the 2026 NKY Restoration Weekend, a one-day educational event dedicated to preserving and celebrating the rich architectural and cultural heritage of Northern Kentucky.
The event will take place on Saturday, April 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Newport Intermediate School, 95 W. 9th Street. A free lunch and vendor fair will begin at 11:30 a.m.
NKY Restoration is a collaborative group of historic preservation enthusiasts, including business representatives, nonprofit organizations, and local historic preservation offices throughout Northern Kentucky and the Greater Cincinnati region. Together, they work to provide resources, education, and inspiration for those passionate about maintaining and restoring historic properties.
NKY Restoration Weekend offers attendees a unique opportunity to:
• Learn practical skills for maintaining and restoring historic homes
• Explore which projects can be tackled independently and when to hire a professional
• Connect with preservation experts, contractors, and vendors
• Discover the stories and cultural significance behind the region’s historic places
Whether you’re actively restoring a historic home or simply interested in preservation, the event is designed to empower participants with knowledge, confidence, and community connections.
“Our region’s historic homes and neighborhoods are a vital part of what makes Northern Kentucky special,” Kaitlin Bryan, Covington’s manager of Historic Preservation, said. “This event helps homeowners protect that legacy while gaining the tools and resources they need to care for their properties.”
Registration is encouraged for those planning to attend. To learn more and sign up, visit nkyrestoration.org.
This event was funded in part with federal funds from the National Park Service, U.S. Department of the Interior, and administered by the Kentucky Heritage Council.
