The Ignite Institute social studies department will host the Sixth Annual Ignite Institute Political Forum on Thursday, April 30, from 8:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. at The Ignite Institute, 37 Atlantic Ave, Erlanger.
Students will have the opportunity to speak directly with elected representatives from Northern Kentucky legislative districts, statewie offices, and school board candidates about the issues that matter most to them.

“All ninth-grade students will talk with each elected public official, with the goal of learning more about the political process — how laws are made and how policies are implemented, from their local communities to the state capital,” said Gannen Cogswell, head of the social studies department.
“Our goal is for them to see that they have the agency to engage directly with the leaders who make decisions in government. It’s also a chance for representatives to share their perspectives on the political process with their constituents.”
Jerome Gels, Principal of The Ignite Institute, emphasized the value of the event: “This forum provides an authentic learning experience for our scholars. Students aren’t just studying Kentucky’s government—they’re actively participating in it.”
The live event is open only to credentialed media and students at the Ignite Institute.
The school’s media club will also record portions of the forum and release highlights on Ignite Institute’s YouTube channel.
The Ignite Institute is a regional public school operated by the Boone County School District. It serves students from Boone County, Kenton County and Covington school districts.
