The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) is advising Northern Kentuckians of a roadway rehabilitation project on Winston Ave./Decoursey Ave. (KY 16) in Covington beginning Monday, April 20.
Crews will replace asphalt pavement with concrete on Winston Ave./Decoursey Ave. from north of Decoursey Ave (KY 177) and West Southern Ave. (mile point 14.89), extending to just north of Inez Street (mile point 14.93), a distance of 0.04 miles.
The project will be completed in two phases, each requiring a seven-day closure.
Phase one: Beginning on Monday, April 20, West Southern Ave. and Inez Street will be closed to through traffic from Caroline Ave. to KY 16. Left turns from East Southern Ave. and Decoursey Ave. (KY 177) onto KY 16 will not be permitted. A single northbound lane will be maintained on KY 16 during this phase. Access to businesses within the closure will be maintained; however, motorists will not be able to turn left onto KY 16. This traffic configuration is expected to remain in place through Monday, April 27.
Phase two: Beginning on Monday, April 27, Decoursey Ave. (KY 177) and East Southern Ave. will be closed to through traffic from Church Street to KY 16. Left turns from West Southern Ave. onto KY 16 will not be permitted. A single southbound lane will be maintained on KY 16 during this phase. Access to businesses within the closure will be maintained; however, motorists will not be able to turn left onto KY 16. This traffic configuration is expected to remain in place through Monday, May 4.
During the closures, a signed detour will be in place via Madison Pike (KY 17) and Howard Litzler Drive (KY 3070) to KY 16.
Message boards will be in place to notify the public of the upcoming work. Delays are possible, especially during peak travel times, and motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes. Please drive carefully through the work zone to help keep crews safe.
Bluegrass Contracting Corporation is contracted to perform the $248,410 project on behalf of KYTC. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed in early May.
Project schedules are subject to change due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
