NKU earns Gold Military Friendly School designation for both students and families for 2026

Northern Kentucky University has again been recognized as a Military Friendly School, earning Gold distinction for 2026.

The Gold designation recognizes NKU’s strong, sustained commitment to supporting military-affiliated students and their families. The status places NKU within 10 percent of the top-performing institutions in its category.

“At NKU, our military-affiliated students are known, supported and connected from day one,” said Dr. Rusty Mardis, assistant director of NKU’s Veterans Resource Station. “We’ve built our program around their needs and we’re committed to helping them succeed every step of the way.”

NKU also received Gold Status for spouses and dependents for the second time, further underscoring our commitment to supporting the entire military community.

“Being named a Military Friendly School with Gold distinction reflects who we are as an institution,” said NKU President Dr. Cady Short-Thompson. “We are focused on access, support and outcomes and ensuring those who have served, and their families, have the opportunity to achieve their goals at NKU.”
